Everything you need to prepare for the journey to La Pinilla.

    🌒

    The Eclipse

19:35 (start of first phase) → 20:30:19 (totality starts) → 20:31:51 (totality ends) → 21:17 (end of last phase).

The eclipse begins at La Pinilla at 19:35 on August 12th. Most eclipses arrive mid-afternoon and vanish into ordinary sky. This one is different. Totality hits at 20:30 — the sun already low, the light already turning, the mountains of Segovia glowing amber as the moon makes its move. For 1 minute and 42 seconds, day becomes night and the stars come out over Spain for the first time in a generation. As that darkness falls, the music is built and aligns the people for this exact sky, this exact moment.

There is no replay. After totality, the eclipse continues until 21:17 minutes before sunset as we all immerse ourselves into the night for total sound.

Approximately 1 minute and 42 seconds of full totality at La Pinilla.

Yes. Eclipse glasses are required during the partial phases before and after totality. We recommend bringing a pair of certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses. During the brief moment of totality itself, it is safe to look directly at the eclipse without glasses.

La Pinilla sits at high elevation in the Sierra de Ayllón, with historically low cloud cover in August. The probability of clear skies on August 12th is approximately 80%. Weather is never guaranteed, but the odds are strongly in your favor — this location was specifically chosen for its favorable conditions.

Yes. During totality, you can photograph with your naked eye and camera. During the partial phases, you will need a solar filter over your lens. Remove the filter only during totality. More photography tips will be shared ahead of the event.

    The Experience

The lineup features over 35 electronic artists from across Europe and beyond, plus speakers relevant to the eclipse experience. Phase 1 of the lineup is now live at spaineclipsefestival.com/lineup — with more announcements to come.

Astral Plane is built around the eclipse as a moment of perspective — bringing together music, speakers, and visual artists to inspire attendees to think beyond the everyday. The festival follows total solar eclipses around the world: future editions are planned for the 2027 eclipse in southern Spain and North Africa, and the 2028 eclipse in Australia.

Yes. Astral Plane is a proudly independent festival that does not take outside sponsorship. The festival commits to never accepting funding from groups that work against human rights.

    Safety & Wellbeing

La Pinilla is mountain terrain with uneven ground and wooded areas. Please read the following before arriving:

    • Wear sturdy shoes — the terrain is uneven, especially at night. A headlamp is strongly recommended after dark.
    • Evenings get cold even in August. Bring warm layers — temperatures drop significantly after sunset at altitude.
    • Learn the site layout in daylight: locate toilets, water points, and the medical station before dark.
    • If you're worried about finding your tent at night, photograph the area and nearby landmarks when you first set up.
    • Stay connected with your group throughout the event, especially after dark.
    • Meet your camping neighbours — look out for each other and each other's belongings.
    • Get enough sleep across the three days — you will enjoy the experience far more.
    • If you take prescribed medication, bring enough for the full festival. Be mindful of interactions with alcohol.
    • Wear high-factor sunscreen, a hat, and cover up during daylight hours. Sun exposure at altitude is intense.
    • Stay well hydrated and eat regularly. Drinking water is available from all taps on site.
    • Wear earplugs — prolonged exposure to loud music can cause lasting hearing damage. Give your ears regular breaks.
    • Give security, site services, and emergency vehicles space to pass at all times.

Yes. A medical infirmary will be on site for first aid needs throughout the event. More details will be shared ahead of the festival.
